About the CFC

The CFC has gathered under one roof a team of dedicated and expert practitioners from various fields—psychology, social work, pediatrics, educational therapy, neuropsychology, occupational therapy, parent education, speech and language therapy—with each practitioner offering a connection-based perspective.  Kids and adults who visit will receive multidisciplinary support that is consistent, well informed, relationally-based, and always aimed at helping them grow and thrive.

We’ve assembled some of the best and most capable professionals in Southern California, from a wide assortment of fields, and we’re all here to help. Working from a whole-child, Whole-Brain perspective that relies on the latest research and emphasizes the importance of relationships and development, our various approaches can help you and your family not only survive what you’re going through, but learn to thrive in ways you probably haven’t even imagined.
— — Tina Payne Bryson PhD, Founder/Executive Director Center for Connection and author of THE WHOLE-BRAIN CHILD, NO-DRAMADISCIPLINE, and more.

Below is a short video from our Founder, Dr. Tina Payne Bryson (NY Times best-selling author of THE WHOLE-BRAIN CHILD and NO-DRAMA DISCIPLINE) in which she shares how to rethink behavioral challenges, and how expectation gaps can be a contributing factor to seemingly out-of-control behaviors.

Often, we focus too much on behavior and forget that behavior is communication. There can be many contributing factors to big emotions, so when we become curious and open to learning more about our child’s struggles, and as we chase the “why,” we can be better equipped to respond in more patient and loving ways. Over time, by keeping this in mind, we can offer safety and regulation through relationship, supporting our children’s long-term skill- and capacity-building.

As many of you have probably experienced, uncovering the “WHY” can take some time, but you don’t have to do it alone!

“Kids do well if they can.”
— Dr. Ross Greene

Celebrating neurodiveristy

Our ABA-alternative approach emphasizes relationship and supports infants, children, teens, adults, families, and school teams, as well as advocating for humans with neuro-differences.

The CFC is a safe space where we celebrate the differences in one another. Our team operates based on six core values:

  • Identity: Everyone has the right to live their true selves

  • Accessibility: Everyone has the right to access their meaningful activities or seek the right support to help them access their community

  • Inclusion: Everyone has the right to feel a sense of deep belonging not just of being tolerated

  • Advocacy: It is our duty to advocate for those whose voice is marginalized or silenced, community

  • Connection: We believe in building a space that is safe and connects people to one another; with that connection comes true health and well-being.
